Photo Essay


Instructions

1. Choose 9 iconic moments - the scenes that for you, are the most powerful. (this is called a "Literary 3 X 3"). Be sure to have at least 1 scene per act (there are 5 acts).

2. Take photos that will illustrate these scenes or quotes. You are encouraged to think metaphorically as well as literally. Stage them with drama! Get macro (close-up)

3. Match your photos with TEXTUAL EVIDENCE (the context, direct quote, and Act/ Scene reference)

4. Use a NOIR filter (or other dramatic black and white treatment) for effect. Option: use spot color on a black and white photo (such as red).

“Is this a dagger which I see before me, The handle toward my hand? Come, let me clutch thee: I have thee not, and yet I see thee still“ (Act 2, Scene 1)

“Be innocent of the knowledge, dearest chuck, till though applaud the deed. Come seeling night. Scarf up the tender eye of pitiful day” (Act 3, Scene 2)


 

“When now I think you can behold such sights and keep the natural ruby of your cheeks, When mine is blanched with fear.” (Act 3, Scene 4)


“Double, double toil and trouble: Fire burn, and cauldron bubble.” (Act 4, Scene 1)


 

“By the pricking of my thumbs, Something wicked this way comes.” (Act 4, Scene 1)


 

“What wood is before us? The wood of Birnam.” (Act 5, Scene 4)


 

“And all our yesterdays have lighted fools The way to dusty death. Out, out, brief candle!” (Act 5 Scene 5)
