For your Journal today, comment on your perception of what it means to be a man in the world of Macbeth versus in our world today. Do you agree with how modern media portrays men or the expectations of men? In your personal opinion, what does "being manly" mean to you?
In Macbeth men are supposed to be fearless and strong. Then should not cry, but instead retaliate in violence. In our society it is not very far off from how men in Macbeth are expected to be. Toxic masculinity potays men now a day as murders, school shooters, sexual harassers, etc. There is still an expectation of men being strong and not vulnerable or emotional. The media also potays men as super fit and muscular and it can make some people feel inferior. I believe that there really should not be a expectation of masculinity. If anything masculinity should allow men to be vunerable and emotional, and that they do not always have to be violent.
