For this journal, reflect on how Macbeth approaches the meaning of life and the human experience here on earth before inevitable death. He uses analogies he's familiar with - that of the "player" and "stage". What metaphor would YOU use?
He feels pretty hopeless about the meaninglessness of it all ("signifying nothing")....how do YOU feel? Write about
what you hope you or others get out of life. What is your approach to living in the short time we have?
Life is like a candle. It starts off as a small flicker slowly growing into a brighter flame, and slowly dies out. Some don’t last long and others are put out before it finishes burning. Others burn brightly for very long and burn to the fullest. But each flame only last for so long. It’s just like life. It is short, and unique to each person. Some lives do not last long and others live to the fullest. I feel that you should live life the way you want. It is so common and chiche for people to tell you to live your life to the fullest, but what if you living it to the fullest is just doing well in school or just very simple things. Sometimes people do not feel life is not worth living and sometimes you cannot change that. But just like a candle every life has a purpose. I think life is pretty great, sometimes it is not and it is like a strong gust of wind trying to put out my flame, but I want to keep living till it is not worth it. I want to be able to do things I want and enjoy it as much as I can.
